Crews Make Progress with Outage Restoration Progresses After Monday’s Windstorm
Blue Ridge Energy line crews continued power restoration efforts overnight and this morning due to damage to power lines from high winds during Monday’s windstorm.
As of 9 am, the following outages remain: Ashe County: 39; Watauga County: 5; and Alleghany County: 2 members without power.
At the height of the outages, 5,759 Blue Ridge Energy members were impacted by high winds and snow, primarily in the cooperative’s mountain districts of its service area. As of this morning, the impacts were as follows: Watauga district: 31 different locations were damaged, causing outages to 2,688 members; Ashe district: 37 locations were damaged, affecting 1,706 members; Alleghany district: 12 damaged locations led to outages for 991 members; and in Caldwell district: seven damaged locations created outages for 374 members.
Crews continue repairs to power lines and poles today to restore power to the remaining outages as quickly as possible.
