Eggers Announces Intention to Seek Candidacy to Board of Directors in June Election
Following the recent passing of longtime Board President and Caldwell District Director Jeff Joines, Blue Ridge Energy Board Director David Eggers has decided to postpone his previously announced retirement from the Board. Director Eggers will seek nomination and reelection for one additional term on the Board of Directors of Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation.
Eggers has served on the Board of Directors in a Caldwell District seat since 2002, holding several key leadership roles during his tenure. In January, Eggers had announced plans to retire from the Board at the end of his term in June 2026; however, after thoughtful consideration, he has decided to seek reelection in June. His decision is intended to allow members the option to vote for him to provide leadership continuity and support a smooth transition for the Board following President Joines’ passing.
“My decision reflects a deep commitment to serving our members and supporting the long-term strength of the Cooperative. President Joines has been a pillar in the community and a model representative for members of the Cooperative. It’s important for me to support the next Caldwell Representative on the Board of Directors and offer experience and leadership during this time,” said Eggers.
Joines had been reelected to a three-year term in June 2025, making his seat ineligible for election by the members until 2028. In accordance with Blue Ridge’s Bylaws, the Board will appoint a new director to complete Joines’ unfinished term later this year.
