When can my tank be installed?
We strive for timely service and are continually scheduling installations. However, installation times will vary depending on the time of year you request your tank installation. Summer installations can often be scheduled within one or two business days while winter installations may take as long as three or four weeks. A Blue Ridge Energy service technician will contact you to determine a convenient day and time when your tank can be installed.
How far from the house or adjoining property must a propane tank be installed?
Per NFPA 58 Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code:
Above Ground Tanks
Note 1: Regardless of its size, any ASME container filled on site must be located so that the filling connecting and fixed maximum liquid level gauge are at least 10 ft from any external source of ignition (e.g. open flame, window A/C, compressor), intake to direct-vented gas appliance, or intake to a mechanical ventilation system.
Note 2: Refer to 184.108.40.206(d) in NFPA 58 Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code.
Note 3: This distance may be reduced to no less than 10 ft for a single container of 1200 gal (4.5 m3) water capacity or less, provided such container is at least 25 ft from any other LP-Gas container of more than 125 gal (0.5 m3) water capacity.
Note 1: The relief valve, filling connection, and liquid fixed maximum level gauge vent connection at the container must be at least 10 ft from any exterior source of ignition, openings into direct-vent appliances, or mechanical ventilation air intakes.
Note 2: No part of an underground container shall be less than 10 ft from an important building or line of adjoining property that can be built upon.
What is the price of a propane tank?
We provide propane tanks to our customers and a customer service representative can assist you in determining if any installation or lease fees apply. We also sell tanks to customers who prefer to own their own tank and take advantage of additional discounts. Depending upon the tank size, you can expect to pay between $500 and $2,000 for your tank. Additional charges apply for an underground tank installation. We also sell fuel oil tanks and stands. Please contact your local Blue Ridge Energy office for pricing and installation.
Do I have to pay all at once?
Customers can pay in full or take advantage of our budget billing program that allows you to spread payments over a 12-month period. Contact our office to review the budget billing program requirements.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes, we accept MasterCard, Visa, and Discover cards. We also offer the convenience of credit card draft. You may also use a credit card to pay by phone or pay online 24/7.
How much will it cost to heat my house/apartment/business?
There are many variables that affect heating costs. A typical usage pattern can often be determined after using fuel in your current setting for at least one year. Consideration must be made for weather conditions as mild or severe weather can significantly affect usage. Heating cost variables include: amount of insulation, number of windows, square footage of the home, and individual usage.
What do I need to do if I am moving or selling my home?
Please contact our office to let us know your new address and when you will be moving. We will dispatch a service technician to read your tank gauge and "lock" the tank if needed at that time. If you have paid for any propane remaining in the tank, we will reimburse you. If you need propane service at your new residence, we can enter a work order for you at that time as well.
