The standard sized tank for most outdoor grills is a 20 lbs propane tank. You can either purchase one, or exchange your existing tank for a new one at many gas stations or hardware stores. Connection is simple. Just screw the nozzle of the hose onto the end of the tank. Turn the gas on, and light the burners.

If you use propane for more than just summer barbecues, you’ll need to look into using a bigger sized tank. Tanks come in 100 lb, 100 gallon, 500 gallon, and 1000 gallon sizes, to name a few. Most tanks can sit above ground, but the larger ones are often buried.
