Since the beginning of COVID-19, Blue Ridge Energy has worked to assist our members during this difficult time. With the expiration of Gov. Cooper's Executive Orders 124 and 142, Blue Ridge remains committed in our efforts by continuing to suspend disconnects and waiving penalty and late fees for electric members until October. However, we encourage everyone with a past due balance (including Flexpay members) to call us by August 31 at 1-800-451-5474 to set up a special payment plan or ask us about crisis assistance from the In This Together Relief Fund.

Electric Hot Water Heaters

See all water heaters

Electric hot water heaters use less energy than gas water heaters because you don't have to keep the pilot light burning. Water heaters that run on electricity also tend to be safer to use. Electric water heaters are very energy efficient. They waste less water because the water warms up quickly. This saves you money, and also helps the environment.

One downside to electric hot water heaters that many people may not think of. Because they run on electricity, if your house loses power, you’ll be taking a chilly shower. Electric water heaters also tend to take longer to recover when you use up all the hot water in the tank. You may want to also consider a Generac back-up generator.
