To report an outage, call
Since the beginning of COVID-19, Blue Ridge Energy has worked to assist our members during this difficult time. With the expiration of Gov. Cooper's Executive Orders 124 and 142, Blue Ridge remains committed in our efforts by continuing to suspend disconnects and waiving penalty and late fees for electric members until October. However, we encourage everyone with a past due balance (including Flexpay members) to call us by August 31 at 1-800-451-5474 to set up a special payment plan or ask us about crisis assistance from the In This Together Relief Fund.
Boone Earns Director Gold Credentials from NRECA
David Boone, of Ashe County, recently earned the Director Gold credential from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) as part of his service on the Board of Directors for Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation.
In order to earn the credential, electric cooperative directors must complete a variety of courses on topics ranging from finance to technology and then commit to a continuing education requirement throughout their service on the co-op board.
Today’s electric utility environment imposes new demands on electric cooperative directors, particularly for increased knowledge of ongoing changes in the electric utility business, new governance skills and a working knowledge of the cooperative business principles. Blue Ridge Energy has a commitment to work through NRECA to sharpen this body of knowledge for the benefit of their electric cooperative consumer-owners.
NRECA represents more than 900 private, consumer-owned electric cooperatives, which provide electric service to nearly 40 million people in 47 states. Blue Ridge Energy serves some 75,000 member-owners in Ashe, Alleghany, Watauga, Caldwell and parts of Alexander, Avery and Wilkes counties. Learn more at www.BlueRidgeEnergy.com.
