So, what are electric fireplace inserts, anyway? They’re a safe, energy efficient, affordable option to gas logs and regular wood burning fires. They give you realistic flame effects, without the downsides of gas or wood burning. There are three kinds of inserts: built-in, log set, and plug-in.
Based on the size of your room, you’ll need to decide which type of heater you’d like in your electric fireplace insert. There are two kinds: fan-forced or infrared heaters. Fan-forced are perfect for smaller areas, usually in the 400-square foot ballpark. An infrared heater is used for bigger square footage, more in the 1,000-square foot sized area.
